Darley’s first-season sire Impending continued to impress on Friday’s fourth session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale with a colt from his inaugural draft making $240,000.
The colt, the first foal of the winning Testa Rossa mare Swiftly Red was presented by Fergal Connolly's Valiant Stud and went to Sweetbriar Equine.
Catalogued as Lot 863, the colt is from the family of the Stakes winners General Truce and Arctic Command and traces to the high-class racehorses Jetball and Marwina.
Impending, a dual G1 winner and one of Lonhro’s best sons, also received solid support from the Melbourne training partnership of Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra when went to $170,000 to secure his filly from the winning Flying Spur mare Recoinage.
Offered by Lime Country Thoroughbreds and listed as Lot 691, the filly is a half-sister to two winners and is from the family of New Zealand’s champion 3YO filly of 2006-07, Princess Coup, the dam of G3 Hong Kong winner Thewizardofoz.

As well as being related to a long line of US Stakes performers, the colt, the first foal seven-time winner Quiet Kitten, is from the family of the local Stakes winners Eleven Eleven and Glenfiddich.
Consigned on behalf of a client by Edinburgh Park the colt catalogued as Lot 677 went to the bid of Victorian trainer Peter Moody.
The colt was one of three Exceed And Excel yearling to make six figures on the day and one of eleven over the first four days of the sale, with the veteran sire’s top-priced offering making $600,000.

Victorian trainer Graham Begg seized the opportunity to buy into the family of champion racehorse and sire Pierro when he went to $190,000 for a filly from the unraced Shamardal mare Song Street.
Offered by Newgate Farm, the filly’s dam is a half-sister to Miss Right Note, the dam of Pierro, himself a son of Lonhro.
