Lot 218: Colt by Brazen Beau x Dejavu Rock sells for $360, 000
A year in which he produced eight individual Stakes winners helped push Brazen Beau to the top of the Darley stallion list on Wednesday’s second session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when his colt from Dejavu Rock made $360,000.
The colt was only the second yearling by the former champion sprinter to be offered at the sale so far and followed Tuesday’s $150,000 purchase by Brazen Beau’s former trainer Chris Waller of a colt from Bingo Betty.
Offered by Queensland-based KBL Thoroughbreds, the colt went to the China Horse Club in conjunction with Newgate Farm who stands one of Brazen Beau’s most prominent runners to date, Tassort.
He is the third living foal of two-time winner Dejavu Rock who is a half-sister to the city winners Top Slice and Bull Market.
Lot 101: Colt by Brazen Beau x Bingo Betty sells for $150,000
The Brazen Beau colt, catalogued as Lot 218, was one of four yearlings by Darley stallions to make at least $200,000 at the session, with Lonhro providing two and Exceed And Excel adding another to bring his total to three for the sale so far.
After being well sought-after at the opening session, Lonhro’s progeny again attracted strong interest with leading Melbourne trainer Danny O’Brien going to $250,000 to claim Lot 310, a colt from the Bradbury’s Luck mare Fire Up Fifi, the winner of 12 races, four of them at Stakes level.
Lonhro’s second highlight for the day came through his colt from the Tavistock mare Eyes Of Love, a descendant of the outstanding racehorse and broodmare Tristalove and a member of the famed Eight Carat family.
The winner of eight Stakes races, Tristalove has herself produced the G1 winner Viking Ruler and the Stakes winners Lovetrista, Kempinsky and Diamond Like.
Lot 310: Colt by Lonhro x Fire Up Fifi sells for $250,000
Having hit great heights with a $600,000 sale on Day One, Exceed And Excel’s only offering in the second session, Lot 213, a colt from the unraced Dehere mare De Groove who went to Zhongli Thoroughbreds for $210,000.
Day two at Magic Millions also marked the sale of the first Ribchester yearling to be offered in the southern hemisphere, his colt from the Denman mare Donna Dingles, consigned by Edinglassie Thoroughbreds making $140,000.
