Exceed And Excel - already the world’s most prolific sire of winning juveniles - created an Australian record and joined a small, elite band of stallions over the weekend when Natural Colour won the Listed Luther Burbank Handicap at Santa Rosa in California.
Natural Colour, out of the French mare Safiyna and now trained by Manuel Badilla, burst through a gap in the home straight for jockey Pedro Terrero before racing away from Freedom Flyer and Northwest Factor to score by nearly five lengths in the 1,700m feature race.

A dual G1 winner of the MRC Dubai Racing Club Cup and the VRC Newmarket Handicap during a racetrack career which yielded six wins in Stakes company, Exceed And Excel became the first Australian sire in history to reach 200 individual Stakes winners.
The champion Darley stallion joins a world-class group of breed-shaping sires to crack the 200 Stakes-winners milestone – including his own sire Danehill, as well as Galileo, Sadler’s Wells, Dubawi and More Than Ready.
