Darley stallions shine at Magic Millions after just two days

Pinatubo takes the spotlight with a colt fetching $700,000

Darley stallions made a strong impression during the first two days of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, drawing buyers in search of their next champion.

The standout moment on Day 2 came from a colt by Champion Two-Year-Old Pinatubo out of Fiesta, which sold for $700,000, cementing Pinatubo’s status as one of the sale's most sought-after first-season sires.

Bred and sold by Rosemont Stud, the colt was purchased by Lindsay Park Racing, marking Ben, JD and Will’s most expensive yearling purchase to date.

Fellow first-season sire Palace Pier, a five-time G1 winner, also impressed with strong sales, including Lot 379: Palace Pier x Excelness (colt) for $300,000 and Lot 193: Palace Pier x Bandol (colt) for $280,000.

Notable buyers included Anthony Freedman Racing, Julian Blaxland Bloodstock (FBAA), ARJB Racing, De Burgh Equine, Lindsay Park Racing, Dynamic Syndications and Kelly Schweida Racing.

Too Darn Hot continued his racetrack success into the sales ring with China Horse Club, Newgate Bloodstock and Kia Ora Stud securing a colt from Bowness Stud for $650,000, marking Bowness’s best yearling result to date.

Meanwhile, Ciaron Maher, well-acquainted with the exceptional quality of Blue Point’s progeny, secured a colt for $400,000.

Sold by Blue Gum Farm, this purchase comes as Maher prepares to field one of the favourites in Saturday’s $3m Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Finally, Harry Angel made his mark late in the day with Lot 434: Harry Angel x Gina Lola, a colt from Lime Country Thoroughbreds, fetching $375,000 and purchased by KPW Bloodstock from Queensland.
