On Point was a new winner for first-season sire Blue Point on Sunday, 7 May with victory over five furlongs at Newmarket.
On his racecourse debut, the Charlie Appleby-trained colt sat just off the leader, travelling keenly he then took up the lead with just over two furlongs to run, ridden out in the final furlong by William Buick, On Point stayed on well to prevail by a head in a close finish with Mashadi, also a son of Blue Point.
Owned and bred by Godolphin, On Point is a half-brother to G3 Prestige Stakes heroine Fairy Cross (Dubawi). They are out of Devonshire (Fast Company), herself a Champion Older Female Miler, she also has a yearling colt by Ghaiyyath.
Blue Point, a Champion sprinter and winner of three G1 Royal Ascot sprints, has made a fantastic start at stud. He is now the sire of six winners including Valour And Swagger who won by an impressive six and a half lengths on debut, Action Point, Keran, Blue Storm and Sir Bolton.
