Darley Australia stable stars selected to join Godolphin

Darley Australia have announced that nine racehorses from their racing operation will be joining The Maktoum Family’s Dubai-based Godolphin stable in preparation for the 2010 Dubai World Cup Carnival at Meydan.

Eight of the nine will move from the stable of Darley’s Head Trainer Peter Snowden.  Time Thief will be transferred from the Lee Freedman stable.

John Ferguson, Sheikh Mohammed’s Bloodstock Advisor, said “This decision by Sheikh Mohammed to race nine graduates from Peter Snowden and Lee Freedman’s stables on the world stage is a massive compliment to everybody associated with racing our team in Australia, from Peter and Lee to the staff who work in their stables.”

Ferguson continued, “It is also verification that the Australian racehorses are among the best in the world.  The horses’ first target will be the 2010 Meydan World Cup meeting in Dubai, followed by Royal Ascot and other big events around the world next year.”

All of the horses selected share the distinction of being proven in top company, with star three-year-old Sousa - winner of this seasons G1 Spring Champion Stakes - heading an illustrious list. Other three-year-olds carefully chosen are fellow current-season G1 horses Time Thief, Caymans and Aichi, and the highly rated pair Fravashi and Desuetude.

Three four-year-olds have also been selected - five-time Group winner El Cambio, G2 winner Marching, who was also Guineas and Derby placed as a three-year-old; and the Group performer Imvula.
