Platelet today claimed further Stakes success for her sire Strategic with a strong win the G3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield over 1200m. After running second in the G3 Champagne Stakes a fortnight ago, trainer Darren Weir had her beautifully set for her first win at this level, a superb feat considering she has only had the six starts.
Bred by Mr. GH Forbes, Platelet is out of a Dracula mare Bloodline and looks to have a very exciting future for her large syndicate of owners. Darley stallions in fact quinelled the race with Elusive Quality filly The Fairy’s Kiss running a gallant second.
Strategic, the sire of eight G1 winners including Champion two-year-old Meurice, was himself a G1 winner and this filly looks to be heading in that direction.
