The brilliant start to his stud career made by Brazen Beau continued at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 15 December when Accession became his first Stakes winner with an impressive victory in the Restricted Listed Inglis Nursery over 1,000m for those offered at the Inglis yearling sales in 2018.
Trained by Chris Waller who conditioned Brazen Beau to two G1 victories, the two-year-old was settled midfield one off the fence under jockey Hugh Bowman and asked for effort at the 350m mark. The colt responded and continued to take strides from the two leaders and hit the front of the field at the 100m mark where he won by a convincing length.
"There is a lot of dad about him, which is really special for me and my team," Waller said.
Bred by Widden Stud and D McMillan, Accession was offered through Widden's draft at the 2018 Inglis Easter yearling sale and purchased by leading syndicator Denis Martin.
"I thought he was special from the beginning and he has the best attitude. I think that's the mark of a really lovely two-year-old when they can handle the work and all the pressures," said Denise Martin of Star Thoroughbreds who purchased the colt for $300,000.
At his only previous start Accession had finished second to the Godolphin filly Athiri (Lonhro) at Rosehill on 1 December.
Accession's win follows the debut success of Brazen Beau colt Tassort who carried the Godolphin royal blue to a five-length victory at Rosehill Gardens last month.
First Dawn, a daughter of the same stallion, was placed in Listed company in Melbourne in November and is one of eight to have raced so far.
A Champion sprinter of his generation in Australia, Brazen Beau's first crop also produced remarkable results in the sale ring with a colt out of Written Dash fetching a sale-topping result at Inglis Classic.
Brazen Beau was crowned the leading first-season sire by average in 2018 and will return to Dalham Hall Stud late December to commence his third northern hemisphere season.
