Bivouac continues to impress with a notable run of winners over the past three weeks, highlighted by two-year-old filly Cavalry Girl, who claimed the VRC Punters Club Sprint over 1,000m under Linda Meech.
After a brave debut, finishing second in the Geelong Diamond to Cherish Me, Cavalry Girl’s experience stood out in a field. She was professional, maintained her composure and kicked clear to score by 1-1/2 lengths over Sword Of Legacy with Autumn Mystery another 1-3/4 lengths back in third.
With her sharp win, the G1 Blue Diamond looms as an obvious target for this daughter of Bivouac. Trainer Tom Dabernig also noted that being an Inglis graduate opens additional opportunities.
“She’s an Inglis graduate, she is eligible for the two-million-dollar Inglis race (Millennium) in early Feb which is on the radar if she pulls up okay and she is in the Blue Diamond as well,” said Dabernig.
Dabernig added, “She’s always been a very professional filly. She was well found by Joe O’Neill - he’s a great judge and his record speaks for itself.
The first run I think we ran into a reasonably smart one in the winner of Ciaron Maher’s, but she did everything pretty right. And then today, sort of mid-race, there was a little bit of shuffling of positions and it didn’t put her off her game.”
Cavalry Girl becomes Bivouac’s third individual winner, joining Intention, already a G2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes winner and Luana Miss, who scored stylishly in the Magic Millions Plate over 1,000m at Ascot.
The World Champion Sprinter continues to make his mark with exciting prospects on the horizon. The Godolphin colt Beiwacht (Bivouac) impressed with a smart trial this morning at Hawkesbury, solidifying his credentials as a strong contender for the Blue Diamond series.
Off the track, Bivouac enjoyed strong results at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale with yearlings selling for up to $270,000 including four purchased by Ciaron Maher.
