Juvenile filly Intention raced greenly but showed her potential when she became the first winner and the first Stakes-race winner for Bivouac at Trentham on Saturday, 21 December.
Last away in the G2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes, Intention overraced behind the leaders in the field of five to the home turn before gaining a spilt under jockey Tina Comignaghi.
The daughter of Australian mare Beela Hudood wore down Landlock to win by half-a-length, with 1.8 lengths to Marokopa Falls in third place.
Bred by the Llanhennock Trust and offered by Wentwood Grange at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Karaka sale early this year, the filly was bought by trainer Mike Breslin and the IntoToWin Syndicate.
Having just her second start, Intention is one of only three runners to date for Bivouac and can only improve from the experience.
Bivouac was the joint champion Australian three-year-old male sprinter in 2019-20 and was voted the world’s co-champion sprinter in 2020.
A son of super sire Exceed And Excel and grandson of the legendary Danehill, Bivouac recorded three wins at the highest level among his seven Stakes-race victories for Godolphin.
The stallion’s oldest progeny are two-year-olds and he will be represented by 23 lots at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from January 7-13.
Bivouac stands at Darley’s Kelvinside property in the NSW Hunter Valley for a service fee of $55,000 including GST.
