Lim’s Kosciuszko again showed his class and adaptability when the son of dual-G1 winner Kermadec (NZ) scored an easy win in the Listed Kranji Mile on Saturday, 20 May in Singapore.
Already a winner of feature races between 1,200m and 1,800m, the reigning Singapore Derby champion swooped on the lead and dashed clear to win his fifth Stakes race.
Victory boosted his outstanding record to 14 wins and two placings from 18 starts for prize money earnings of A$1,681,091 under trainer Dan Meagher.
Cyclone ran home well to be beaten 1.3 lengths, with Mr Malek a long neck away in third place.
Jockey C.C. Wong rode a confident race on Lim’s Kosciuszko, parking the five-year-old in fifth spot on the fence as the leaders set a frantic pace.
Lim’s Kosciuszko joined in at the 500m mark and the gelding, out of Black-Type winner Jacquetta, strode to the front to stop the clock on a sizzling 1 minute 32.81 seconds for the 1,600m.
That time smashed the record of 1:33.25 set by his former stablemate Lim’s Lightning 12 months ago.

Kermadec has already sired 69 winners of 180 races, with G1 winners Montefilia (4), Willowy and Tuvalu among his winners of 16 Stakes races.
Monteflila, the four-time G1 winner was recently sold at the 2023 Inglis Chairman's Sale for an impressive $3.4 million.
The stallion will stand this year at Darley’s Northwood Park stud in Victoria for a service fee of $16,500, GST inclusive.
