La Flora Belle won her first race at Stakes level and gave Iffraaj another boost in New Zealand when she won the Listed Wanganui Cup over 2,040m on Saturday, 26 November.
Ridden beautifully by Joe Kamaruddin in fifth spot on the fence until the home turn, La Flora Belle sliced between the leaders before surging clear to beat Charms Star by 1.3 lengths with Llanacord a short-head away in third place.
The five-year-old mare, out of New Zealand broodmare Tsarina Belle and from the powerful Mark Walker stable at Matamata, took her record to four wins and five placings from 15 starts.
La Flora Belle was the 88th Stakes race winner for Iffraaj, who won seven races - including three at G2 level - and was placed twice from just 13 starts.
He is the sire of 1,774 runners worldwide for an impressive 1,081 winners of 3,042 races worth just under £54 million.
Iffraaj has sired 11 winners at the highest level, including the four-time G1 victor Ribchester, Jungle Cat, Jon Snow, Western Empire and emerging young sire Wootton Bassett.
The stallion will stand in 2023 at Darley’s Dalham Hall Stud at Newmarket in England for a service fee of £15,000
