Natural Colour much the best in Golden Gate Fields Turf Distaff

Second straight Stakes victory for the daughter of Exceed And Excel

Natural Colour continued her winning ways when she posted a game, three-quarter length win in the Golden Gate Fields Turf Distaff on Saturday, 17 September.

It was the second consecutive Stakes win for the four-year-old daughter of Exceed And Excel. She captured the Luther Burbank Stakes in her previous start in early August.

Natural Colour broke alertly and once again showed early speed as she attended to the moderate fractions set by leader Northwest Factor. Natural Colour continued to track that filly from second until the far turn, when she was asked to make her move by jockey Pedro Terrero. Natural Colour overtook Northwest Factor inside the eighth pole, and comfortably held off the late bid of Charges Dropped to win by three-quarters of a length.

Natural Colour was bred in Great Britain by the Safiyna Partnership and is out of the Sinndar mare, Safiyna, who is a half-sister to Champion Sageburg (by Johannesburg), winner of the G1 Prix d’Ispahan. Natural Colour’s second dam, Sage et Jolie, is herself a G2 winner and a full sister to Champion and G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe victor Sagamix.

Exceed And Excel has sired 100 individual Group winners, having only recently hit the 200 Stakes winner mark. The world’s preeminent sire of two-year-olds, Exceed And Excel has had 16 top flight winners including Overreach, Helmet, Excelebration, Outstrip and young Darley stallions Bivouac and Microphone.
