Sepoy continues to shine on Gold Coast

$520,000 colt the highlight on day two of Magic Millions yearling sale

After setting the day’s top price as well as a new record price for a yearling by a first-season stallion on the opening day of the Magic Millions yearling sale, Sepoy continued to make waves on the Gold Coast on day two, January 8.

Lot 252, the first foal out of G3-winning Redoute’s Choice mare Florentina, was sold by Segenhoe Stud to leading trainer Peter Moody for $520,000. The handsome bay colt was the fourth-highest priced lot of the day. Sepoy also had a colt out of Leica Lotto sell to Michael Freedman for $250,000, finishing the day with an average of over $300,000 for his 12 lots sold.

Champion stallion Exceed And Excel has had an amazing affinity with daughters of Snippets, the cross producing 15 runners for 15 winners and four Stakes winners. So it was no surprise that lot 271, an Exceed And Excel colt out of Snippets mare Fumble proved very popular, eventually selling to James Harron for $400,000.

A Medaglia d'Oro colt out of G2 winner Lady Lynette from the Baramul Stud draft sold to Nostradamus’ trainer Gai Waterhouse for $310,000, while Helmet also made an impression with his first-crop yearlings, recording a top price of $230,000 for a colt out of More Than Ready mare In Expectation.

The sale continues tomorrow before concluding on Saturday night.
