Fascinante shows a spark in Sparkler Stakes

Medaglia d'Oro filly wins third in a row

Medaglia d'Oro filly Fascinante appropriately showed quite a spark at the end of the Sparkler Stakes November 1 to capture a win at Gulfstream Park West. In the five-furlong race Fascinante was under a strong hold in fourth stalking leaders. Down the lane the four-year-old filly found room along the rail to take over the lead and run away with the three-length win.

Fascinante notched her third win in a row, and first in Stakes company, with the Sparkler Stakes score. The consistent filly is now five-for-six on the year. Bred by German Larrea, Fascinante is out of the Pulpit mare Scarlett Cruise, a daughter of Stakes winner Ladies Cruise and half-sister to Group winner Admiral's Cruise and G1-placed Transcendental.

Other Stakes winners for Medaglia d'Oro this year include G1 Gulfstream Park Handicap winner Lochte, G1 Just A Game victress Coffee Clique, and well-bred G3 Pilgrim Stakes winner Imperia. Among his most notable runners lifetime are Horse Of The Year and Classic winner Rachel Alexandra, another G1 Kentucky Oaks winner in Plum Pretty, and G1-winning turf mare Marketing Mix.

The sire in Australia of the unbeaten juvenile Vancouver, a winner of the Listed Breeders' Plate, as well as the exciting G3-winning colt Nostradamus, Medaglia d'Oro is standing the current Australian breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 (Inc. GST).
