Sky On Fire burns turf at Riccarton

New two-year-old Stakes winner for the daughter of Exceed And Excel

Sky On Fire lit-up Riccarton racecourse on Wednesday, 9 November and became another Stakes winning two-year-old for Exceed And Excel (AUS) when she led all the way to win the Listed Welcome Stakes over 1,000m.

Having her third start after two close seconds, Sky On Fire - ridden by visiting Australian jockey Josh Parr and prepared by Mark Walker at Matamata - showed speed and then great tenacity to hold off Rubicon Crossing by three-quarters of a length. Rhetorical was another 1.6 lengths away in third place.
