Second Stakes victory for Aerobatics

Racing second-up after resuming four weeks ago at Rosehill Gardens, five-year-old Exceed And Excel mare Aerobatics produced a scintillating turn of foot to claim her second career Stakes race, the G3 Sprint Series Final over 1200m at Caulfield on October 12.

Winning her first Stakes race at her last run of her previous campaign when successful in the Listed Hawkesbury Crown, the Peter Snowden-trained mare jumped from the second outside gate and went forward to sit about two lengths from the leaders.

As the field rounded the home turn, jockey Kerrin McEvoy asked his mount for her effort and she responded with ease, claiming the lead and holding off the late challenge of Assertive Eagle to record a neck victory.

Bred by Darley, Aerobatics is one of four Stakes performers from the Rahy mare Grilse, a half-sister to Stakes winners Porte Bonheur, Slip Stream and Banafsajee. A three-quarter-sister to the G1 Coolmore Classic winner Alverta, the Joint Champion Older Female Sprinter in Great Britain in 2010, as well as the Singapore-G3 winner Revolte, Aerobatics is now the winner of five races and over $440,000 in earnings. Grisle’s current three-year-old Ultimate Glory, a full relation to Aerobatics is showing promise, while the current yearling, is also by Exceed And Excel.

The sire of six Australian-bred Stakes winner so far this season including last week’s G1 Flight Stakes winner Guelph, Exceed And Excel is the sire of 73 Stakes winners internationally and is currently standing at Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 (inc. GST).
