Saluter salutes in Guineas

Son of Commands too strong at the Gold Coast

Saluter continued the white-hot run of form for Commands with a gritty win in the Gold Coast Magic Millions Guineas over 1400m at the Gold Coast, becoming the 53rd Stakes winner for his sire.

Saluter had raced well without luck in his previous two starts in Stakes company but had to work hard for his success after working hard on the speed throughout the rich feature.

The three-year-old kept giving plenty in the straight to score by a short neck over race favourite and G1 winner Sizzling to record his fourth win from 13 starts.

Saluter is the only foal to race out of the Show A Heart mare Rosekay Heart. He fetched $80,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale but has now returned his purchase price many times over.

Yearlings by Commands averaged $153,000 at the Magic Millions yearling sale held recently and as we head towards further yearling sales, the sire of nine G1 winners including Appearance, Epaulette, Skilled and Commanding Jewel, will be represented by three yearlings at the Karaka Premier yearling sale and a further 15 yearlings at the Inglis Premier yearling sale.
