Mare in foal to Bernardini sells for $1.2million

Polar Success, carrying a foal by Darley's World Champion, tops the Inglis Australian Weanling & Breeding Stock Sale

The Inglis Australian Weanling & Breeding Stock Sale concluded on 26 June after two strong sessions that recorded a clearance rate of 84 per cent, and the Darley stallions were once again to the fore with a mare in foal to Bernardini providing the highest price for the two days.

Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, who is carrying a foal by World Champion Bernardini, was knocked down to Inglis (acting as agent for a local client) for $1.2 million to top the two-day sale by some margin. Offered for sale by Twin Palms Stud, Polar Success has already produced a Black type performer in Polaway.

Lot 114, G2 winner and G1 placegetter Segments, was also offered in foal to Bernardini and was bought by P Willetts for $320,000 to become the fourth highest-priced lot of the sale.

Brave and Bold, in foal to Exceed And Excel achieved the second-highest price of the sale when selling to Milburn Creek for $420,000. Brave and Bold, a half-sister to G2 winner and G1 placed Brave Prince, is already the dam of a winner by Exceed And Excel - her two-year-old son Dominguin has recorded a win and a second from three starts this season.

Reset was also the covering sire for a mare who achieved six figures, with proven Black type producer Mica’s Pride selling for $300,000.

The second session comprised the weanling sale and a colt by young Darley stallion Nadeem clearly made a good impression when bought for $125,000. He is from the Salt Lake mare Salty Sal, herself a half-sister to multiple Stakes winner Ain’t Here.
