Manaccan strikes in G3 Mercury Stakes at Dundalk

Third Stakes victory for son of Exceed And Excel

Exceed And Excel sired a new Group winner when his three-year-old son Manaccan recorded the third Black-Type win of his career when landing the G3 Pat Smullen Mercury Stakes over five furlongs at Dundalk, Ireland on Friday, 21 October. The chestnut colt who is owned by Newsells Park Stud - Ossie Ardiles Syndicate is now the winner of five races, including two Listed victories.

Manaccan, trained by John Ryan, jumped well under Stevie Donohoe, he tracked the leaders throughout and was then angled towards the stands side for a clear run over a furlong out, challenging the leader in the final stages Manaccan hit the front to prevail by half-a-length from Logo Hunter.

Bred by Al-Baha Bloodstock, Manaccan is a half-brother to Listed winner Raucous and Group-performer Divine Spirit. They are out of the G2-placed Acclamation mare, Shyrl.

The remarkable Exceed And Excel recently sired his 200th individual Stakes winner, with a total of 204 to date and 102 individual Group winners, 16 have won at the highest level including Overreach, Helmet, Excelebration, Outstrip and young Darley stallions Bivouac and Microphone.

Exceed And Excel heads the Darley stallion roster at Kelvinside in the NSW Hunter Valley where he stands for a service fee of $132,000, GST inclusive.
