Darley-sired 1-2 in G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies

Medaglia d’Oro's Songbird defeats Bernardini's Rachel's Valentina

Medaglia d’Oro’s daughter Songbird remained undefeated with an impressive win in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Keeneland, October 31, defeating Bernardini's Rachel's Valentina in brilliant fashion.

Despite starting from the outside barrier, Songbird quickly raced to the lead and never relinquished it. Rachel’s Valentina (out of Medaglia d'Oro's Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra) chased hard over the concluding stages but had to settle for second.

Bred in Kentucky by John Antonelli, Songbird was purchased for $400,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale by Fox Hill Farm. Songbird is out of Ivanavinalot, who captured the G2 Bonnie Miss and was second in the G2 Davona Dale as a three-year-old.

Medaglia d'Oro continues to add to an already tremendous year in 2015. Songbird is now a multiple G1 winner while he is also the sire of G1 Golden Slipper hero Vancouver and G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap winner Mshawish.

Medaglia d'Oro is standing at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST.
