Czechout Girl too good at Te Rapa

First-season sire Gonski represented by his first winner

Having her third career start, two-year-old filly Czechout Girl became the first winner for her Stakes-winning sire Gonski scoring a long neck victory over Anabandana with a further long head to Exceed And Excel colt Know When To Hold in the Mitavite 2YO Maiden at Te Rapa, New Zealand on November 21.

Trained by Ben Foote, the Mark Du Plessis-ridden filly was handy throughout and received the breaks at the right time to take the 1000m event. Having been scratched from a Stakes race the day prior, Czechout Girl was surprisingly sent out at double figure odds in the two-year-old maiden.

Bred by Hudson Rees Ltd, Czechout Girl is the second runner and first winner for the unraced half-sister to the G3-winning Tangarakau and the Stakes performed Divorced.

A winner of the Listed Concept Sport Stakes over G1 winner Perfectly Ready by two-and-a-quarter lengths, Gonski defeated no fewer than nine G1 winners throughout his career and was rated within four points of Champion Stratum after a wide-margin Rosehill victory debut.
