Darley stallion Teofilo was represented by his eighth winner as Cleofila won a maiden over 1400m at the Curragh on Saturday, August 20. Having unseated her rider before the start, the filly showed plenty of courage, winning by a head. The winner has the same connections as her sire, being bred, owned and trained by Jim Bolger. The trainer also had another Teofilo runner later in the day, Parish Hall which finished second in the G2 Futurity Stakes over the same course and distance as her stablemate Cleofila.
Cleofila is out of Altarejos, a daughter of Vettori and half-sister to three other Black type winners including the G1 winner Angara. The female family of the winner includes many names that gave the Wildenstein family many successes such as Arcangues, Agathe and her daughter Aquarelliste.
With eight individual winners to date, Teofilo's first-crop are highlighted by Stakes winner Teolane, also trained by Jim Bolger, and G33 winner Remember Alexander. Teofilo will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Darley Kelvinside for a fee of $22,000 (inc GST).
