Champion Sire Exceed And Excel sired another feature race winner on Saturday, 18 August when exciting colt Cylinder returned to racing with a tenacious win in the G3 Vain Stakes over 1,100m at Caulfield.
After a stellar two-year-old season, when he won the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes and G2 Todman Stakes before finishing a close second in the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes, Cylinder jumped from the outside barrier first-up and travelled wide on the track.
Jockey Blake Shinn rode strongly as Cylinder grabbed courageous Harry Angel (IRE) colt Ouroboros on the line.
Cylinder now has three wins and three placings from seven starts for prize money earnings of $1,303,740.
His dam, Circular, is also the mother of G3 Toy Show Quality winner Parisal (Astern). She also has a yearling filly by Bivouac and is in foal to Brazen Beau.
Exceed And Excel has sired 1763 winners of 5938 races worldwide. His 210 Stakes-race winners have won a combined 387 Black-Type races, winning prize money of more than A$260 million.
Exceed And Excel leads the Darley stallion roster at Kelvinside, standing for a service fee of $132,000 inc GST.
