Irish-bred veteran Chance To Dance showed the dash of a much younger horse, spearing through the pack close to home to win a second Stakes race in his past three starts in the G3 Alison Stakes at Ellerslie, NZ, on 7 November.
Already one of his sire Teofilo’s 72 Stakes winners, the victory was the first at Group level for the eight-year-old who had won a Listed race two starts back at his first New Zealand outing.
Chance to Dance was a winner of five races in Ireland, including one at Listed level, for his breeder and trainer Jim Bolger.
He has now had four starts for the training team of Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards having previously been a member of the stable of prolific Australian owner Lloyd Williams who half an hour after Chance To Dance won at Ellerslie, won his sixth G1 Melbourne Cup at Flemington.
Chance To Dance is out of Crystal Ballet, a half-sister Rodrigo De Triano, whose five G1 wins included the English and Irish Two Thousand Guineas.
Teofilo is standing his southern hemisphere season at Kelvinside, NSW at a fee of $44,000, including GST.
