First-season sire Epaulette has been making a good impression with his runners and on Sunday, 24 September he recorded his 15th individual winner when his son Mcmunigal ran out the convincing winner of the seven-furlong maiden at Naas.
Settled in third position early on, Ger Lyons’ charge came wide around the bend but despite showing some signs of greenness under pressure, soon moved clear of his rivals to win going away by four and a half lengths.
Mcmunigal was bred by Michael O’Mahony and is the first winner out of Picture Of Lily (Medician). The mare is a half-sister to two Black Type winners in Scott’s View and Mac Melody.
Epaulette is also sire of Stakes-placed filly Sankari Royale, plus promising duo Doublet and Morlock.
Epaulette stands at Kelvinside at a fee of $22,000 inc GST.
