Teofilo enjoyed a superb weekend, with Ajman Princess landing the G1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet and Massaat taking the G2 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury. He added a third Stakes winner in less than a week yesterday when Fleur Forsyte prevailed in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes at York and on 25 August, Mildenberger became his sire’s fourth Black type winner of the week with victory in the Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury.
Mildenberger was settled in second under Franny Norton and despite losing touch two furlongs from home, rallied superbly inside the final furlong to win by a nose. This was the third victory in four starts for the Mark Johnston-trained colt, who was third in the G2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood earlier this month.
Mildenberger is out of the winning Dubawi mare Belle Josephine, a half-sister to multiple Stakes winner Marsh Daisy and a granddaughter of Prix l’Opera winner Bella Colora.
Also on Friday, first-season sire Epaulette recorded his 11th individual winner when She’s Different ran out the convincing winner of the six-furlong nursery at Hamilton.
She’s Different was bred by Patrick Cassidy and is the ninth winner from nine foals to race out of the winner mare Quickstyx (Night Shift). They are from the family of G1 winner Red Bloom.
Epaulette is also sire of multiple winner Doublet and Stakes-placed filly Sankari Royale.
