Rogue belied his name in some style at Salisbury on Wednesday, winning in style over 1200m in the second leg of the afternoon's novice stakes to become the latest northern hemisphere success for his first-crop sire Epaulette.
Trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Ryan Moore, Rogue was always prominent and saw off the challenge of Ragstone Road to triumph by half a length on his fourth start.
Bred by Kelly Thomas's Maywood Stud in Wales, Rogue was purchased as a foal for 24,000gns at Tattersalls and was then bought for 45,000gns at the same venue's December Yearling Sale the following year. He is out of Miskin Diamond, a half-sister to the G1 juvenile Catch A Glimpse. Miskin Diamond was covered this year by Epaulette's three-parts brother Helmet.
Epaulette is now the sire of nine winners from his first northern-hemisphere crop. He stands at Kelvinside, NSW, for $22,000 inc. GST.
