Sankari Royale ran out an easy victor at Down Royal on Friday evening to take Epaulette's tally to seven individual winners, four of which have come in the space of eight days.
Bred by Colm Griffin, and hailing from the family of 2,000 Guineas winner King Of Kings, Sankari Royale triumphed in convincing fashion in the five-furlong contest on her fourth start. Trained by Johnny Murtagh, the filly was settled towards the rear before making smooth progress to take up the lead a furlong from home, and win by two lengths.
Epaulette was himself a smart performer at two who really hit top stride at three, scoring in the G1 Golden Rose and the G1 Doomben 10,000. A three-parts brother to the exciting young sire Helmet, Epaulette stood this year at Kildangan Stud, Ireland.
