Teofilo’s three-year-old daughter Sarigan made the most out of her first-ever Stakes start on July 14 at Saint-Cloud, winning the Listed Prix de Thiberville and became her sire’s 66th career Black type winner.
Sarigan, who last raced just 12 days ago in another winning effort at Saint-Cloud, broke forwardly and was placed in mid-pack by her jockey and remained there for much of the early going. As the field turned down the straight about a half-mile from the finish, the sophomore filly began picking off her rivals and finished strong at the wire.
Bred in France by Mise de Moratalla, Sarigan is out of the French G3 winner Wilside who was also twice Group-placed. Wildside is a half-sister to Listed winner and G2-placed Round Heels and to the dam of G2W/G1-placed Donjuan Triumphant.
Teofilo has sired 22 individual Black type performers so far this year - seven Group winners - including G1 winner Humidor and other G2 winners Palentino and Brazuca.
Teofilo will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $44,000 inc. GST.
