First-season sire Epaulette opened his winner’s account on 25 April when his daughter Fas le Fios won over 1000m at Maisons-Laffitte in France.
Settled behind the early pace, the Stan Moore-trained filly began to make headway with 600m left to run and hitting the front 200m out, kept on well to win by a short neck.
Fas le Fios becomes the fourth winner out of the King’s Best mare Saffa Garden, herself a half-sister to G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas third and Rochestown Stakes winner He’s A Decoy, plus G1 Darley July Cup third Danetime.
Epaulette was G2-placed and a dual winner himself at two, going on to win the G1 Golden Rose and G1 Doomben 10,000 at three. He also found only Black Caviar too good in the G1 TJ Smith Stakes that season.
Epaulette stands at Kelvinside at a fee of $22,000 including GST.
