Talented son of Teofilo, Malice, blitzed his rivals in the final stages of the ATC Cup over 2000m at Rosehill on Saturday December 3, becoming a dual Listed winner by claiming victory in the same race.
The six-year-old gelding has consistently been racing in classy company and benefited from a quiet run at the rear of the field. Upon turning for home jockey James Doyle elected to pursue an opening along the inside rail, saluting in what was his second win for the Godolphin team on the day.
Malice is a Darley homebred and is out of the Encosta de Lago mare, Aforethought, who herself is a half-sister to the Listed winner Moqueen. The gelding is also a relation to multiple G1 winner Criterion and the G2 winning filly Varenna Miss.
Teofilo’s progeny have been enjoying great success on the racetrack in 2016, as Malice becomes his sire’s 14th individual Stakes winner of the year. He is joined by the likes of G1 winners Special Fighter and Palentino.
Teofilo is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $44,000 (inc. GST).
