New Approach gets his second on the board
With his first winner being two-year-old filly Montsegur who was recently G3 placed, New Approach’s second winner was a colt this time, in the shape of the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained Gamblin’ Guru.
Making his debut over 1100m at Morphettville on February 23, the near black colt produced an impressive effort to take the event by two-and-a-quarter lengths for jockey Claire Lindop.
Bred by the Guru Breeding Syndicate, Gamblin’ Guru is the second foal, and second winner for the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Glory Guru, a half-sister to the multiple G1-winning Champion three-year-old Gold Guru as well as the G2 winner Gallant Guru. The first foal of the mare is a Reset filly named Gossip Guru, a winner earlier this month for the same connections.
As the sire of five Stakes horses including the unbeaten European Champion Two-year-old Dawn Approach, New Approach will be represented by 12 yearlings at the Inglis Premier yearling sale which is set to commence on Sunday 3 March, while he has one yearling catalogued for the Inglis Easter yearling sale in April.
