Dawn Approach remains perfect at Naas

New Approach’s first runner and first winner Dawn Approach remained unbeaten when recording an impressive victory in a useful six-furlong conditions race at Naas. Facing five rivals including two last-time out victors, the result was never in doubt as he eased to the front two-furlongs from home, and sauntered clear to win easily by five-and-a-half lengths. Holding a G1 entry later this season in the Phoenix Stakes, he has already been installed as the favourite for next season's G1 2,000 Guineas.

Granted TDN Rising star status for this performance, his trainer Jim Bolger pinpointed the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot as his likely next start. Commenting on the winner he stated, “He's got everything, he's the complete package and majors in temperament” before eulogising about his sire “I think New Approach will be sensational”.

Bred by he trainer, he becomes the second winner out of Hymn Of The Dawn (Phone Trick), who is a half-sister to G1 performer Galantas and is from the family of G1 winners Miss Oceana and Kitwood. Hymn Of The Dawn also has a yearling filly by New Approach.

New Approach himself recorded a perfect five victories from five starts as a juvenile, including a pair of G1 wins in the Dewhurst and the National Stakes. He went on to win not only the Derby, but also the English and Irish Champion Stakes, winning the former in record time.

Having an excellent start in the southern hemisphere with his yearlings averaging $131,647, almost four time his service fee for the 17 sold, with a top price achieved of $475,000, New Approach will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Darley's Victorian base Northwood Park at a fee of $33,000 (inc. GST).
