Teofilo’s Light Heavy wins Derby Trial
Jim Bolger looks to have two highly exciting sons of Teofilo to take to the Derby and the Irish Derby following Light Heavy’s game win in the G2 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Out of the Quest For Fame mare Siamsa and bred by the trainer, Light Heavy already has a Group success to his name, having won the G3 Ballysax Stakes on his prior outing. He is now three wins for just four starts and is likely to head next to the Irish Derby at the Curragh, while his stable-mate and paternal half-brother Parish Hall will head to Epsom after lining up for the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
Teofilo, whose eldest runners are just three, already has six black-type performers to his name, including Group Three winner Remember Alexander. Teofilo will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere breeding season Darley Kelvinside, NSW, for a fee of $22,000 (inc. GST).
