City Guest gave young sire Epaulette his eighth individual winner when triumphing at Windsor on Monday night. Epaulette has now sired five individual winners in just 11 days.
City Guest, trained by George Margarson, made his experience tell in the five-furlong maiden stakes, chasing the leading pair before challenging the leaders a furlong out. Having gained the upper hand with 50 yards to run, he stayed on well to triumph by a length a quarter.
The colt was bred by Tom McDonald out of the Encosta de Lago mare Union City Blues.
Epaulette was himself a smart performer at two who really hit top stride at three, scoring in the G1 Golden Rose and the G1 Doomben 10,000. A three-parts brother to the exciting young sire Helmet, Epaulette stands for a fee of $22,000 inc. GST at Kelvinside, NSW.
