Three-year-old Teofilo filly Eziyra has been a wonderfully consistent campaigner for her sire, never finishing out of the first three, and on Saturday, 9 September she added a third victory at Group level when landing the G3 Enterprise Stakes at Leopardstown.
Settled in fourth under Pat Smullen, the odds-on favourite travelled well throughout and having to come wide around the bend, battled superbly to hold off late challenges from the second, third and fourth-placed horses to prevail by three-quarters of a length.
Her previous Group victories came in the G3 Weld Park Stakes last year and the G3 Give Thanks Stakes at Cork just over a month ago. The Dermot Weld-trained filly also finished third in this year’s G1 Darley Irish Oaks.
Owned and bred by HH Aga Khan homebred, Eziyra is a daughter of the Stakes-placed Dubai Destination mare Eytarna, a half-sister to four G1 winners in the Gold Cup winning pair Estimateand Enzeli, Classic heroine Ebadiyla and Moyglare Stakes Stakes winner Edabiya.
Eziyra is one of 28 runners by Teofilo who have won or placed at Black Type level this year, a group which includes G1-winning duo Ajman Princess and Humidor.
Teofilo stands at Kelvinside at a fee of $44,000 including GST.
