Reverse shuttler Epaulette recorded his tenth individual winner on 23 August when his son Highest Rank won at the first time of asking, prevailing over six furlongs at Carlisle.
Always close to the pace under jockey Clifford Lee, the Karl Burke-trained colt took the lead entering the final furlong and held on well to win by a neck from Geesala Brave.
Highest Rank was bred by Michael Fennessy and is out of the winning Nayef mare La Noe, also dam of Helmet’s multiple winner Kreb’s Cycle. La Noe is a granddaughter of G1 French St Leger runner up and Listed winner Snow Princess.
Epaulette is also sire of winning filly Sankari Royal, last seen finishing second in the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes at Newbury, plus dual winner Doublet.
Epaulette stands at Kelvinside at a fee of $22,000 including GST.
