Teofilo enjoyed a very profitable Sunday at the Curragh and Twilight Payment backed up the earlier victory of Eziyra when taking the Listed Loughbrown Stakes. Run over two miles on rain softened ground, he battled on very gamely in the straight to beat the impressive stayer Forgotten Rules. A lightly-raced three-year-old who only made his debut in May this season, he has now won twice with a pair of Stakes-placed efforts at Royal Ascot and the Curragh behind Order Of St George.
Bred by his trainer Jim Bolger, he is out of the Oasis Dream mare Dream On Buddy, twice a winner as three-year-old over a mile. He hails from the extended family of Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Carnegie.
Twilight Payment is Teofilo’s 12th Stakes winner of 2016. This includes a brace of top-flight winners in Special Fighter and Palentino and the high-class European Group winners Quest For More, Scottish and Diplomat. He is standing this season at a fee of $44,000.
