Teofilo sired his thirteenth winner on Wednesday September 28, when his daughter Cresta Star broke her Maiden on her fourth attempt at Kempton Park. Given a canny ride by Richard Hughes from the front, she was always holding her challengers to win cheekily by three-quarters-of-a-length.
Owned and bred by Peter Tellwright, she is out of the Warrshan mare Fleet Hill, winner of the Listed Superlative Stakes as a juvenile. Cresta Star is also a half-sister to four Stakes-horses including African Dream, winner of a brace of G3’s via the Dee Stakes and Sandown Classic Trial.
Teofilo is also the sire of three Stakes winners in his first season. Remember Alexander was the impressive G3 Tyros Stakes winner, Teolane won a Listed race at Naas, and last weekend, Black Arrow remained unbeaten in Germany when taking the Winterfavorit Trial at Cologne. Teofilo will stand this season at Kelvinside for $22,000 Inc. GST.
