Kid shoots straight in Bobbie Lewis Quality

Fourth win at Stakes level for tough son of Harry Angel

Arkansaw Kidย (out of Florabella by Exceed And Excel) again showed the courage of his sire Harry Angel with a determined victory in the G2 Bobbie Lewis Quality down the straight 1,200m course at Flemington on Saturday, 14 September.

In recording the fourth Black-Type victory of his career, and just four weeks after winning the Listed Regal Roller Stakes over 1,200m at Caulfield, Arkansaw Kid fought off Skybird to win by a short-head with Buenos Noches a head away in third place.

His performance completed a winning treble for Harry Angel over the past four weeks, after Angel Capital (Bahamas by Teofilo) resumed to win the Listed McKenzie Stakes over 1,200m at Moonee Valley seven days earlier and Marine Wave (Ambiguous by Kheleyf) won the Listed Flying Filliesโ€™ Stakes (1,207m) at Pontefract on 18 August.

Co-trained by Ben, Will and J.D. Hayes at Flemington, Arkansaw Kid was placed in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1,200m) at Sandown in 2023 and is a winner of the Restricted Listed Inglis Banner (1,000m) at Moonee Valley and the Listed Gothic Stakes (1,200m) at Caulfield.

Offered by Sledmere Stud at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Arkansaw Kid was sold to Lindsay Park Bloodstock for $190,000 and is out of Australian mare Florabella.

The now four-year-old has a three-year-old full-sister (Wollemia Angel), a two-year-old brother and a yearling half-sister filly by Too Darn Hot (GB).

A former G1-winning sprinter in the UK, Harry Angel has now sired 152 winners of 299 races worldwide โ€“ including 15 individual Stakes winners of 22 Stakes races.

Harry Angel is standing at Darleyโ€™s Kelvinside property in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales this season for a service fee of $38,500 (GST inclusive).
