Eziyra, who came into the race on the back of a close second in the G3 Flame Of Tara Stakes, went one place better on Sunday 25 September when winning the G3 Park Stakes over seven furlongs at the Curragh. The daughter of Teofilo was always travelling sweetly under Pat Smullen and gained the better of a dual with Shamardal’s daughter Grecian Light by two-lengths with four-and-a-quarter lengths back to the third.
An Aga Khan homebred, Eziyra is a daughter of the Stakes-placed Dubai Destination mare Eytarna, a half-sister to four G1 winners in the Gold Cup winning pair Estimate and Enzeli, Classic heroine Ebadiyla and Moyglare Stakes Stakes winner Edabiya.
Teofilo has now sired 11 Stakes winners in 2016 including a brace of top-flight winners in Special Fighter and Palentino and the high-class European Group winners Quest For More, Scottish and Diplomat. He will be standing this season at a fee of $44,000 Inc GST.
