Teofilo sired a new Group winner on Sunday 30 July when his two-year-old daughter Tantheem impressed in the G3 Prix de Cabourg. Run over six furlongs at Deauville, she was sharply away form the stalls and never seeing another rival, ran right to the line for a three-and-a-half length victory. She has now won two of her three starts, coming into this race off similarly wide-margin victory on Deauville’s synthetic track.
Owned and bred by Hamdan Al Maktoum, Tantheem is a daughter of the Dubawi mare Riqa, who was placed three times at Stakes level in France. Her dam is a half-sister to the dual G1-winning miler Tamayuz and from the extended family of the great Urban Sea.
Teofilo has now sired 23 Stakes horses this season including impressive Australian G1 winner Humidor and dual G2 hero Permian, who went so close last time out in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris. His four further G1 performers also include the Irish Classic pair Irishcorrespondent and Eziyra, taking his tally of British or Irish Classic performers to eight, only beaten by his own sire Galileo.
He will be standing this coming season at a fee of $44,000 Inc GST.
