World Champion sprinter Harry Angel achieved another world-class record siring the top lot at the recent Goffs Premier Yearling Sale, Lot 296 was knocked down for a Sale-topping £220,000 (AU$415,000).
Secured by Alex Elliott, the colt is set to be trained by his sire's former trainer, Clive Cox.
“He's by one of the best horses that this Sale ring has ever seen and out of a very fast mare. He also vetted perfectly and watching him in the back ring, it was like men against boys," said Elliott.
“You could see all the breeze-up boys on him and they're the best in the business with the fast ones."
Offered by Houghton Bloodstock, the colt was bred by Cheveley Park Stud from the Listed winner Red Box (Exceed And Excel), herself a daughter of the stud's G1 Prix de Diane heroine Confidential Lady (Singspiel).
To add to his record, Harry Angel concluded the Sale as the leading sire by average, £92,000 (AU$173,613), aa brilliant achievement for a first-season sire.
Looking at all stallions with two or more offered, Harry Angel's progeny averaged more than many leading European sires, including:
- Harry Angel on £92,000 (AU$173,200)
- Mehmas on £91,000 (AU$171,388)
- Kingman on £84,000 (AU$158,204)
- Kodiac on £74,000 (AU$139,370)
- Showcasing on £73,000 (AU$137,487)
He represents incredible value at $16,500 including GST.
Harry Angel stands again at Kelvinside, NSW with his first crop set to enter the yearling sales ring in 2022.
