World Champion Sprinter Harry Angel (IRE) boosted his impressive first-season record in Australia when promising filly Stretan Angel won the Listed Dequetteville Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday, 15 April.
Having only her second start, Stretan Angel swooped from the back of the field to beat Artistica by nearly three lengths, with Remedies (Sepoy) a nose away in third place.
Stretan Angel became the sixth Stakes winner for Harry Angel worldwide, who has now had 85 runners for 35 winners. In the southern hemisphere alone Harry Angel has now racked-up at 18.75% runners to Stakes winner ratio, with Stretan Angel also joining Listed winners Tom Kitten and Arkansaw Kid (also a G1 Blue Diamond placegetter).
The filly was offered by Raheen Stud at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale and bought by her trainer, Phillip Stokes, and Rick Connolly Bloodstock.
Harry Angel’s performance at the yearling sales in 2023 is consistent with his first-runners performance, with second-crop yearlings realising up to $400,000 and averaging nearly eight times their service fee with a 100 per cent clearance rate across all Book 1 offerings.
