Angel Capital promised much last preparation but finally delivered on Saturday, 7 September in the Listed McKenzie Stakes over 1,200m at The Valley.
A maiden winner on his home track at Cranbourne in April, trainer Clint McDonald took the colt to Brisbane for the winter without luck in two starts.
But a stronger Angel Capital returned to racing on Saturday with a dominant performance under Ben Melham, collaring Bosustow (Blue Point) to win by three-quarters of a length with Sergeant Major one-and-a-half away in third place.
Bred by David Peacock and offered by Mill Park Stud at Meningie in South Australia at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, the colt was purchased by Upper Bloodstock for $400,000.
Angel Capital has a two-year-old half-brother by Blue Point, a yearling half-sister by Pinatubo and his dam, Bahamas, was covered by Blue Point last December.
Harry Angel, who has returned to stand at Darley’s Kelvinside stallion farm in the NSW Hunter Valley, now has 148 winners of 293 races worldwide.
His 15 Stakes winners of 21 Stakes races include recent winners Fair Angelica at Deauville, Arkansaw Kid at Caulfield and Marine Wave at Pontefract.
Harry Angel stands at Kelvinside for a service fee of $38,500 including GST.
