A wonderful month for Street Boss climaxed in Perth on Saturday, 30 November when Cashel Palace and The Boss Lady gave their Darley sire a winning Stakes double at Ascot.
Three-year-old filly Cashel Palace won the Listed Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic over 1,400m with a thundering finish, beating London’s Image and Wind And The Lion by a length in 1 minute 22.91 seconds.
Bred by Yarradale Stud at Gidgegannup out of the Australian mare Burgoyne, who also has a two-year-old colt by Brazen Beau, Cashel Palace was bought by Shane Stafford at the 2023 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale for $160,000.
It was the first Stakes victory from six starts for the filly, who is trained on the track by Daniel Morton and was expertly ridden by Lucy Fiore.
One race later, The Boss Lady completed the Street Boss double when she won the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic for fillies and mares over 1,400m.
The four-year-old came from midfield at the 600m with a swooping run to beat Antique Miss by a long neck, with Bonjoy just over a length away in 1:22.75.
Trained by Michael Lane at Boyanup and ridden by Chris Parnham, The Boss Lady was bred and is part-owned by the Canal Enterprise Syndicate.
In claiming her first Stakes success, the chestnut recorded her seventh win – with four placings – from 14 starts for earnings of $456,050.
The feature-race double came four weeks after Another Wil (Street Boss-Arohanui) won the G2 The Damien Oliver over 1,400m at Flemington, a week before Pericles (Accessories) took the Listed Five Diamonds (1,800m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Three-year-old filly Silent Rule (Modern Lady) then won the Listed First Lady Stakes over 1,200m at Mahoning Valley in California on 25 November.
Best known in Australia as the sire of nine-time G1 champion Anamoe, Street Boss now has 977 individual winners worldwide of 2903 races – including 76 Stakes winners of 151 Black-Type events.
Street Boss spearheads the stallion roster at Darley’s Northwood Park property in Victoria, standing for a service fee of $66,000 including GST.
