Zaidan takes Hong Kong G1

Royal Ascot winner Zaidan (Street Cry) won the Listed (HK-G1) Classic Cup over 1800m at Sha Tin on February 19. Sprinting clear as the field entered the straight, Zaidan stayed on strongly under jockey Olivier Doleuze to defeat the HK-G1 Hong Kong Classic Mile winner Sweet Orange by a nose.

“Zaidan’s a different horse since we gelded him,” winning trainer John Moore said.

“He’s more genuine and today we got a good run in behind with very little incident along the way. He kicked hard and the only thing the jockey said was that when he hit the front, he pricked his ears and half wanted to pull up, so Olivier will have to be careful of that when he rides him in the Derby, which I think he will do.”

"He travelled nicely through the race and when I saw the horse in front was stopping, I pulled him out and asked him and he gave me very good acceleration. It was a good win.” said Doleuze.

Zaidan, out of the Atticus mare Element Of Truth, won the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot over 1400m as two-year-old and is one of 54 international Stakes winner for his sire Street Cry, the winner of the Dubai World Cup and whose Kentucky Derby-winning son Street Sense was represented on February 18 by the unbeaten Japanese Listed winner Fleet Street.

Street Cry has one lot catalogued for the Inglis Premier yearling sale that commences February 27 and 17 entries in the Inglis Easter yearling sale in Sydney that commences on April 10, including a half-brother to multiple G1 winner and Australian Horse of the Year, Makybe Diva.
