Win, Win, Win for Shaft

Shaft celebrates his third winner

Two-year-old Shaft filly Diaphysis stormed down the outside of the Gold Coast track to claim the QTIS Handicap over 900m on 11 February.

Bred by Mr. Morrison from Benarkin Park in Queensland, the two-year-old filly is out of a Carnegie mare Graciously, who was served by fellow Darley stallion Street Boss last season.

Diaphysis appears to have a promising future after comfortably rounding up her opposition in the last 200m to win going away by two-lengths. The filly joins her sires other two flag bearing winners, Detonate and Deakes, as well as the recent Stakes-performer Magic Shaft.

Shaft has one yearling entered in the forthcoming Inglis Premier yearling sales in Melbourne later this month, a colt out of the Octagonal mare Benita from the Manx Park draft (lot 410).

A winner of the G2 Silver Slipper as a two-year-old on debut, Shaft is out of the Rahy mare Traceable and is from the family of Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy, who incidentally was covered by Street Cry last season, her first year at stud.
