With 12 yearlings selling during the select session of the three-day sale, Nadeem's overall average of $122,333 was higher than any other stallion of that crop with three or more yearlings sold.
Leading the way was lot 497, one of the last lots through the ring. Offered on behalf of Glastonbury Farms, the bay colt is out of the G1-winning Centaine mare Kapchat. A half-brother to Stakes performers Kaphero, Princesa, Hidden Energy, Keeneland and Wasimah, the colt was knocked down to Angus Gold, acting on behalf of Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Stud for $240,000.
Angus Gold added another Nadeem yearling to his haul later in the day, this time signing for lot 530, a three-quarter brother to Stakes winners Make Me A Miracle and La Lagune, for $100,000.
Earlier in the day, legendary trainer Bart Cummings purchased lot 429 from the draft of Rheinwood Pastoral for $220,000. A half-brother to Strategic Stakes performer Captain Chaos, the colt was purchased as part of an Events NSW competition, where a one lucky person will win a share in this yearling - all expenses paid for two years.
With the Nadeem's first yearlings purchased by the likes of Bart Cummings, Lee Freedman, Shadwell Australia, Peter Moody, Tim Martin and Paul Moroney Bloodstock to name but a few, they will be in some of the country's leading stables where they will get every possible chance.
Not to be outshone by their barn mate, Lonhro, Commands and Exceed And Excel also achieved very encouraging results throughout the sale.
Faint Perfume's (Shamardal) trainer Bart Cummings was also responsible for purchasing lot 469, a strapping Lonhro colt out of a three-quarter sister to Fastnet Rock. Consigned by Torryburn Stud, the colt was knocked down for $360,000, the highest-priced lot by his sire to sell overall. Lonhro ended the sale with an average of $166,562 for his 8 yearlings sold.
Exceed And Excel's yearlings posted positive results, averaging just below that of fellow third-crop sire Lonhro. Wednesday's top priced Exceed And Excel youngster was knocked down to the New Zealand-based bloodstock agent Michael Otto for $220,000. Offered by Mill Park Stud, the filly comes from the Black type-laden family of Champion racehorse Dubai Millennium.
Not only was Angus Gold responsible for purchasing two Nadeem yearlings, but also signed for lot 509, a Commands filly out of the Masterclass mare Written By A Queen. Purchased for $200,000, the filly was the third-highest lot sold during the second session of the sale, the same session that subsequent dual G1-winning filly Faint Perfume sold two years ago.
With all 13 of his yearlings catalogued finding homes, Commands' stock averaged just shy of $110,000, with his top-priced lot selling on day two to Kieran Moore Bloodstock for $220,000.
With the last of the major yearling sale now complete for another year, we enter into the broodmare phase of the sale year, where a catalogue of near on 1000 broodmares is set to commence on Monday April 13 at the Inglis sale complex.
